Aston Villa struggle to meet Nicolo Zaniolo’s release clause

Premier League side Aston Villa are currently struggling to meet Galatasaray’s release clause for Nicolo Zaniolo.

Villa were linked with a move for Zaniolo yesterday, with Monchi said to be keen on reuniting with the Italian. But Gala inserted a release clause in the player’s contract and want Villa to pay that, to have a chance of landing Zaniolo.

But Sky Italia report that Villa currently can’t pay the clause and are looking for a deal which is an initial loan with an option to buy the player permanently. The English side currently do not have the financials needed to meet Gala’s asking price and this could allow other clubs to trump them.

Zenit St Petersburg are keen on the player and have the financials needed to meet Gala’s release clause. They would also be willing to hand Zaniolo a hefty wage, which could be at €9 million per season. Juventus have also been linked with the player in recent months.
