Barcelona Transfer Blow? Report Reveals PSG Reopening Door for Messi Extension

After a chaotic week that resulted in Paris Saint-Germain suspending Lionel Messi, supporters protesting and then the Argentine issuing an apology. 

As a result, with this week’s events, many assume that Messi’s time in the French capital is ending due to the various reporting. However, that may not be the case. 

The Times reported on Saturday that PSG is open to reopening negotiations to renew Messi’s contract, which expires in June. 

Furthermore, the information from the English media outlet notes that the Ligue 1 side has decided to try to continue discussions as they want the seven-time Ballon d’Or winner to continue playing at the highest level. 

While PSG might want to extend the Argentine, there’s no agreement yet between the sides. Nonetheless, this new information might be a thorn on the side of Barcelona’s plans for a reunion with Messi this summer.

The Spanish club is waiting to find out if La Liga would allow Messi to register with the feasibility plan they presented. 

If La Liga approves their plan, the Catalan side will present the 35-year-old with an offer of around 25 million euros gross per season to convince him of his return.
