The Portuguese midfielder posted two images of himself in battle with Mount with both players pulling at each other shirts from a previous Manchester United vs Chelsea fixture. Fernandes then added the caption: “ Why did you take so long to sign,” alongside an angry face emoji. He then goes on to say: “Welcome Mason Mount.” The switch will provide Ten Hag with further creativity and an added goalscoring threat as United face both domestic and Champions League commitments next season. The Three Lions star links up with fellow England internationals Marcus Rashford, Luke Shaw and Harry Maguire in his new surroundings. Speaking about his transfer Mount told Manchester United’s official website: “It’s never easy leaving the club where you grew up, but Manchester United will provide an exciting new challenge for the next phase of my career. “Having competed against them, I know just how strong a squad it is that I’m joining, and I can’t wait to be part of this group’s drive to win major trophies.
