The Kings created $12 million in cap space by trading away the No. 24 pick and Richaun Holmes to the Dallas Mavericks. The new CBA allows teams to extend players at 140 percent of their salary. If the Kings increase his salary from $22 million to $30 million, they could then offer a four-year extension worth approximately $189 million, plus the extra money for 23-24. If Sabonis doesn't agree to an extension, he is set to become a free agent in 2024.
