Manchester United target Rasmus Hojland is ‘next Erling Haaland’ who ran 100m in under 11 seconds and ‘gets stronger every day’

Rasmus Hojland could be on his way to Manchester United and the Red Devils may have found their own Erling Haaland. It’s understood that talks have already taken place over a deal for the striker, who would be a more affordable option than Kane with a price tag of £40-£50million.

Of course, he doesn’t have the stats to compete with England’s all-time top goalscorer just yet, but the 20-year-old is extremely highly rated and his stock is constantly rising.

Hojland registered 10 goals and two assists in his debut season for Atalanta in the Serie A last season following his move from Austrian side Sturm Graz.

The big step up in quality doesn’t seem to have affected the frontman whose performances earned him his first senior national team call-up for Denmark.

He has scored six goals in six appearances for his country, including a hat-trick against Finland during Euro 2024 qualifying.

Standing at 6’2, Hojland is a powerful player who is dangerous in the air, however, his stature can be deceiving.

The Dane is also light on his feet and incredibly quick with his intelligence and high energy on the pitch clear to see.

And just by reading the list of his key traits, you can see why he is compared to Manchester City star Haaland

Not only do both players have striking blonde hair and almost the same surname, but their playing style is extremely similar and Atalanta boss Gian Piero Gasperini can see why they are compared.

After Hojland made a stunning run from the halfway line against Lazio last season, in which the striker reached an incredible speed, Gasperini couldn’t hide his excitement.

He said: “Hojlund has this spirit, energy, intensity, but also technical quality that is just remarkable.

“He still has so much margin for improvement, too.

“He has very similar characteristics to Haaland, not just his face. He is so quick, he’s under 11 seconds over 100m and that’s not even trying very hard.

“Considering his height, he has a low centre of gravity and can move his legs very fast. I am convinced he’ll have a great career, he just gets stronger every day.”

Haaland’s unbelievable success in all competitions last season lead to Man City’s historic treble win and left United watching their rivals experience plenty of success.

Ten Hag’s side didn’t have a bad campaign themselves but they clearly lacked a focal point with Wout Weghorst not cutting it for the high standard the Red Devils expect.

So with Hojlund becoming known worldwide as the next Haaland, United may have found their own key to get back to challenging their bitter rivals.
