Ousmane Dembélé Gives Honest Take Regarding Messi-Barcelona Reunion Rumors

Lionel Messi has one more Ligue 1 contest before he begins examining where he’ll play the 2023-24 season. After that, the 35-year-old’s contract with Paris Saint-Germain expires on June 30 and will become a free agent.

Over the last few weeks, plenty of players on the FC Barcelona squad have commented regarding the possibility of the Argentine returning. The latest to talk about playing with the 2022 FIFA World Cup winner is Ousmane Dembélé.

“Lionel Messi for FC Barcelona is the absolute legend,” Dembélé told French media outlet Téléfoot (h/t Canal Supporters). “He is an extraordinary player; he is always in good shape, always scoring goals, making decisive passes. 

“He’s always top-notch! And seeing him play with us again would be something exceptional.”

Barcelona has to play the waiting game until La Liga gives them the green light on their financial package and then they’ll need to offload certain players to ensure the Spanish club can register Messi. 

If they don’t receive the green light or make space financially, the seven-time Ballon d’Or winner will have to look at other options, whether other European prospects open up. 

There are also non-European options, such as Al-Hilal and Inter Miami, who have been linked to Messi.
