FC Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain will meet in a few days at the Parc des Princes for the first leg of their UEFA Champions League quarterfinal tie. Both teams are coming off a FIFA international break, and manager Xavi Hernandez spoke about whether this will impact the first encounter.

The two teams had several players go out on international duty and did see players receive minor knocks, but the most significant injury was Bradley Barcola. PSG’s coaching staff is racing against time to have the Frenchman ready for the match.

Hernandez spoke to the media and noted that he doesn’t believe that the FIFA break will affect the first leg.

“I’m not worried because they’re coming back from international duty and they have to switch to ‘club mode,'” Hernandez said (h/t Mundo Deportivo). “There are still many days left before the match against PSG. We’re focused on tomorrow’s game. We want to and believe we can fight, and tomorrow’s match is crucial to win three points and try to put pressure on Madrid.”

Barcelona will also be without a key defender for their weekend clash as they decide to be cautious ahead of what lies ahead. Mundo Deportivo reports that Andreas Christensen didn’t train yesterday because his Achilles discomfort is still persisting. Everything indicates he won’t feature against Las Palmas.

Luis Enrique Relies on PSG Sensation for Next Season Amid Arsenal Interest, Report Says https://sports.9020blog.com/luis-enrique-relies-on-psg-sensation-for-next-season-amid-arsenal-interest-report-says https://sports.9020blog.com/luis-enrique-relies-on-psg-sensation-for-next-season-amid-arsenal-interest-report-says

Xavi Simons has impressed during his last two loan stints with PSV Eindhoven and RB Leipzig. As a result, many top European clubs will be examining whether Paris Saint-Germain is open to selling the player.

A recent report from The Mirror revealed that Arsenal hoped that Simons would force a PSG exit if Mbappé signed an extension with the French giants. Another report also reveals that the Gunners indeed have their eyes on the Dutchman.

The Daily Express (h/t Sport.fr) claims that Arsenal coach Mikel Arteta has made him one of his priority targets to strengthen the Gunners’ offensive sector. However, PSG manager Luis Enrique does not see it that way; the Spanish tactician is counting on the young 20-year-old player next season.

Furthermore, with Kylian Mbappé leaving this summer, the Parisians are more inclined to keep Simons and not sell him for any amount. Simons will be one of the faces of the post-Mbappé era and if he can replicate his production, then PSG supporters are in store for an amazing talent next season.

Barcelona Race to Lock Wonderkid to New Contract Amid PSG Links, Romano Says https://sports.9020blog.com/barcelona-race-to-lock-wonderkid-to-new-contract-amid-psg-links-romano-says https://sports.9020blog.com/barcelona-race-to-lock-wonderkid-to-new-contract-amid-psg-links-romano-says

It’s been reported that Paris Saint-Germain is closely watching FC Barcelona’s central defender, Pau Cubarsí. As a result, the Spanish side are away and want to do their best to secure the teenage defender to a new contract with a new release clause fee.

Earlier this month, a report revealed that the capital club sent a scout to observe Lamine Yamal and Cubarsí during the Barcelona-Napoli match. The Spanish defender’s contract expires in 2026, but the Catalan side wants to sign him to a new contract because of his current release clause.

Currently, Cubarsí’s release clause stands at approximately €15 million. In a proactive move, Barcelona has already presented a contract renewal proposal to the teenager, as reported by transfer window specialist Fabrizio Romano (h/t Diario AS).

Furthermore, the Italian journalist confirms that the offer includes a €1 billion buyout clause. The La Liga team hope that the agreement can be finalized before the end of the season, as Cubarsí will be one of the key pieces of the project.

It will be interesting to see if any team, such as PSG, makes a move for the teenager this summer or if he decides to extend his contract to scare away any interested suitors due to his new release clause.

Barcelona on Alert: PSG Standout On Track to Be Fit for First Leg Clash https://sports.9020blog.com/barcelona-on-alert-psg-standout-on-track-to-be-fit-for-first-leg-clash https://sports.9020blog.com/barcelona-on-alert-psg-standout-on-track-to-be-fit-for-first-leg-clash

Paris Saint-Germain suffered one significant injury over the FIFA international break: Bradley Barcola suffered a Grade 2 hamstring injury in his left thigh.

The 21-year-old will miss the matches against Olympique de Marseille (March 31) and Stade Rennais (April 3). However, what many want to know is whether the Frenchman will be ready for the first leg of the UEFA Champions League tie against Barcelona on April 10.

Le Parisien provided an update on the situation and noted that Barcola’s injury is progressing positively. Still, he should be fine for Barcelona when the Spanish side travels to the Parc des Princes.
