Union Berlin defender Leonardo Bonucci’s Roma move off

Union Berlin and former Juventus defender Leonardo Bonucci’s move to Roma is now off, at least for the time being.

The Giallorossi’s defensive problems and injuries in the backline saw them seek a move for a defender in January and Bonucci seemed to be a prime target. Sources had told Get Italian Football News some days ago that the move was progressing and this was relayed by other outlets as well.

Sources have now informed Get Italian Football News about the situation of the Italian, and it seems as if the move for the defender is off for now. 

Corriere dello Sport have reported along these lines, stating that the club don’t believe that they should be signing the 37-year-old and should be looking at a younger profile. La Gazzetta dello Sport reported that the Giallorossi have second thoughts about the move because of the club’s fans being unhappy about the potential arrival of a former Juventus player.
