Inter emerge as favourites to sign Porto’s Mehdi Taremi

Inter have now posed as the frontrunners in the race to land Porto forward Mehdi Taremi for free. 

According to a report by Daniele Longo, Inter are looking for a new attacker to aid the lethal duo of Lautaro Martinez and Marcus Thuram in their absence. Marko Arnautovic isn’t a reliable option upfront and Alexis Sanchez’s continuing injury problems are making the club consider signing an additional attacking asset. Therefore, the Nerazzurri are now convinced to sign Mehdi Taremi who was earlier linked with their neighbourhood rivals Milan.

Sporting Piero Ausilio has already established contacts with the 31-year-old’s entourage. The plan now is to sign the documents in January so that the player can arrive next season for free. Taremi’s contract with Porto expires next summer and there have not been any talks regarding an extension.

The Rossoneri have completely lost interest in battling for the Iranian as they did not like his approach last summer when he presented the club with a 7-day mandate signed to an agent who was not part of the negotiations and ultimately pulled out of the deal himself.
