Lazio & Inter handed injury boosts ahead of upcoming clash

Both Lazio and Inter Milan have been afforded timely boosts on the personnel front on Thursday.

This comes ahead of the highly-anticipated showdown between the two sides in Serie A this coming weekend.

Maurizio Sarri’s Lazio are set to play host to table-topping Inter at the Stadio Olimpico on Sunday night, a clash which will see former Biancocelesti boss Simone Inzaghi mark his latest return to Italy’s capital.

In the buildup to the clash, both sides have been forced to shuffle their defensive ranks, amid a number of fitness issues.

As alluded to above, though, both could welcome back key faces at the Olimpico in three days’ time.

Lazio have been forced to make do without the services of Alessio Romagnoli and Patric of late, the former owing to a calf complaint, and Patric due to illness.

As confirmed by Sky Sport, they were back in training this afternoon, though, giving rise to hope that both could be at the disposal of Maurizio Sarri on Sunday.

Inter, meanwhile, have been unable to call on summer arrival Benjamin Pavard since early last month, after the French international suffered a dislocated kneecap.

But he too was back on the training pitch today, joining his teammates for a partial session, before breaking off for individualised work.

Should his recovery go according to plan over the coming days, Pavard could in turn play some part against Lazio.
