Mavericks Retain 2023 First Round Pick Owed To Knicks At Lottery
The Dallas Mavericks have retained their 2023 first round pick as no team jumped them in Tuesday's lottery. Dallas had traded their 2023 first round pick to the New York Knicks as part of the 2019 Kristaps Porzingis trade, but it was top-10 protected. The draft pick is top-10 protected again in 2024 and 2025 with it converting to a second rounder in 2025 if it is not conveyed. At the end of the season, the Mavericks shut down Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving amongst others and lost a key game to the Chicago Bulls to ensure they entered the lottery with the 10th worst record.
