Milan reignite interest in Lens striker Lois Openda for number nine position

Milan have reignited their interest in Lens striker Lois Openda for the number nine position within Pioli’s squad ahead of next year’s campaign.

Corriere della Serra reports, via PianetaMilan, that the Rossonerri are eager to make a move for the 23 year-old Ligue 1 star, who is worth between €45m-€50m, following the hefty sale of Italian holding midfielder Sandro Tonali to Premier League outfits Newcastle.

Since joining Lens last summer from Belgian outfits Club Brugge for a transfer fee of €11.8m, the Belgian international has managed to tally 21 goals and four assists in 42 games-played within his break-out season at his new club.

Milan have been tracking the prolific goal-scorer for quite some time, but have steered clear from commencing negotiations as a result of his extremely high value within the market, causing them to turn their attention towards Frenchman Marcus Thuram.

However, the Rossonerri failed to win the race for the 25 year-old free-agent as the former Borussia Monchengladbach striker has chosen cross-city rivals Inter as his next destination, accepting a five-year deal with the Nerazzurri worth €6m per-season.

Following the €70m departure of Tonali to the Magpies, Milan are keen to make an attempt in pursuing the promising forward as they have now gained a great deal of financial liquidity in order to improve the front-line ahead of the upcoming campaign.
