Inter optimistic about Lautaro Martinez’s contract extension ahead of Champions League clash

Inter are gaining in optimism when it comes to a contract extension for striker Lautaro Martinez.

The Nerazzurri take on Atletico Madrid later today in the 2nd leg of the Round of 16 of the Champions League. They are 1-0 up from the first leg, thanks to a Marko Arnautovic goal.

FCInter1908 have reported that ahead of the second leg against Atleti, Inter held talks with the agent of Lautaro Martinez, Alejandro Camano. The meeting took place at the hotel where Inter have been headquartered for their game and there is optimism filtering through, when it comes to a renewal for the Argentine.

Inter are in no hurry at the moment but the gap between the two parties is now closing. More contacts will take place in the next few weeks to iron out a deal, Inter want to add bonuses in the deal that are linked to the team’s success. Those bonuses also exist in the new deal for Nicolo Barella.

Using this method would be easier for Inter to reach the demanded 10 million per season wage, but the exact breakdown is yet to be fully ascertained. But one thing is for certain that things are going in the right direction.
