Journalist Giovanni Albanese on Juventus’ business in January: “Evaluating various options”

Ahead of the Bianconeri’s highly anticipated Serie A fixture against Roma, the Get Italian Football News team had La Gazzetta dello Sport journalist Giovanni Albanese preview the block-buster and provide his insight on coach Max Allegri’s side this season.

Despite Juventus suffering a major dent in terms of their quality on the pitch as a result of the off-field issues that forced star midfielders Nicolo Fagioli and Paul Pogba to be deemed suspended for the remainder of the 2023/24 term, Allegri managed to bore fruit from the soil and get the best out of the resources at his disposal.

As it stands, Juventus currently sit in second with 40 points, only four points adrift from the league-leaders Inter after 17 games-played. The Bianconeri have only lost a single match in this year’s campaign so far and have found ground-breaking form in recent periord, seizing 11 points out of the 15 available in their last five fixtures.

The Old Lady have proven to be a force not be reckoned with as they have yet to lose a match against any of the title contenders, attaining three points against the likes of Milan, Napoli, and Lazio, as well as forcing Inter to a stalemate, whom are the most clinical team in the league with a total of 41 goals-scored.

With plenty on the line against the Giallorossi as Juventus seek to maintain pressure on the Nerazzurri, Albanese began by touching upon his analysis of Juventus and what he believes to be the Bianconeri’s key to success thus far:

“Juventus are in the midst of building a new cycle. The team is looking for its own identity, I think the path taken so far is good. The players with less experience know Juventus well because they have lived in the youth sector for many years, this has led to raising the level of involvement during the week. I believe it is the key to the positive results obtained so far.”

Afterwards, Albanese briefly discussed Juventus’ situation within the transfer market, as the Old Lady have been very active in searching for the proper profiles that will bolster Allegri’s squad heading into the second half of the campaign:

“Juventus are evaluating various options and will not be caught unprepared for any opportunities. But they have no obligation to dip into the transfer market in January, considering that some of the second choices have guaranteed good performances so far.”
