Juventus open talks with Manchester City for Kalvin Phillips

Serie A giants Juventus have now opened talks with Premier League champions Manchester City for midfielder Kalvin Phillips.

The Englishman is out of favour at CIty and Pep Guardiola recently confirmed that the midfielder isn’t part of his plans at the Etihad Stadium. The likes of Newcastle United, Manchester United and Tottenham have also been linked with the ex-Leeds United man, with Juve said to be keen.

Fabrizio Romano has reported that the Bianconeri have now opened talks with City for the 28-year-old midfielder. Phillips is said to be open about the possibility of joining the Old Lady in January, as he looks for regular football in an attempt to play for England during the Euros next year.

As of now, Juve want an initial loan deal with the option to buy Phillips permanently, whereas City want an outright sale, as talks remain ongoing.

Juve are desperate to sign a midfielder in January, with both Paul Pogba and Nicolo Fagioli suspended. Tottenham’s Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg has also been linked to the Old Lady.
